Learn About The Problem

  • Understand the importance of health care coverage.
  • Learn about the magnitude of the problem in North Dakota.
  • Understand the barriers to health care access that have health and economic ramifications for the communities we live in.

Work Together

  • Over 200 community members will collaborate to create health care systems that allow all North Dakotans access to health care services.
  • Involve stakeholders including care providers, elected officials and businesses in developing strategies for accessing health care.
  • Participants will be fully engaged and committed to developing systems that allow 100% access to quality health care.

Identify Community Solutions

  • Over 40 communities will convene with health care providers, funding organizations and consumers to plan the redesign of their health care systems to expand health coverage to everyone.
  • Harness the knowledge, power and dedication of each community to bring about change to improve access to health care services.

Adopt New Ideas

  • Evaluate health care models that have been successful in other states.
  • Health care users will come up with new views, ideas and suggestions on how to improve health care access.

Develop Equitable Funding Solutions

  • Explore funding options that do not overburden any one group.
  • Develop strategies that do not require increased spending by the state.

Leave With A Plan

  • Equip community champions with creative options and action plans tailored to suit their communities.
  • Community members will leave the event with an action plan to improve health care access.
  • Identify a layer of state action from this event, so that if legislation is required, the process can begin.

Resources Provided

  • Provide the framework necessary for creating a statewide campaign to establish 100% access to quality health care.
  • Community mentoring available through Communities Joined in Action.

Follow-Up Ensured

  • Provide 6-month check-ups to communities committed to change.
  • Success of initial efforts will motivate other communities to replicate what is being done.
