Strategies for Achieving Community-Wide Access to Pharmaceuticals

Partnering with:
Learn what a full access pharmaceutical system looks like. Develop
a pharmaceutical access enterprise that is sustainable and able to
support a community-wide safety net. Achieve both cost savings and
improved health outcomes. Take action! Be part of a learning community
changing the way pharmaceuticals are accessed.
The Institute will:
- Establish a repository of best practices;
- Establish a community blueprint for achieving full access to
pharmaceutical services;
- Provide access to faculty with expertise in implementing successful
programs;
- Establish peer support in a collaborative team environment; and
- Organize access to ongoing technical assistance.
You will learn how to:
- Evaluate your community’s needs and assets so you can design a
pharmaceutical access plan that will work in your community;
- Develop the partnerships necessary to make this plan happen;
- Combine pharmaceutical industry programs, bulk purchasing
arrangements, and other strategies to obtain the medications needed for
the lowest price;
- Develop a community-wide pharmaceutical access action plan;
- Develop a cost-effective formulary;
- Account for pharmacy regulations that may affect your program;
- Use available software, web sites, and other tools to increase
efficiency;
- Evaluate how well you are meeting your goals and objectives
- Develop a return on community investment strategy to make your
pharmacy enterprise sustainable.
You should attend this Institute if you are:
- The manager of a hospital system, health center, health department
or other organization involved in a coalition committed to increasing
access to pharmaceuticals;
- A pharmacist, physician, nurse or other clinician committed to
increasing access to pharmaceuticals;
- A funder helping a community or group of communities increase access
to pharmaceuticals; or
- A provider of technical assistance looking for new strategies to
help communities develop effective pharmacy strategies that will achieve
both cost savings and improved health outcomes.
