The passage of the Affordable Care Act marks a new era in the development of community healthcare coalitions. CJA’s fifth annual conference, “Health Reform: Mobilizing for Change” will showcase how local coalitions and partnerships can operate under health reform with a mission and scale that results in the community achieving 100% Access/Zero Disparities.

The theme of the 2010 conference is that “community coalitions have a strategic role in making health reform work”. Participants will see how to mobilize their communities using a change package based on national best practices in four arenas: successful community health care coalitions, effective restructuring of health care, strategic use of community benefits, and innovative financing of local reforms.

At the conference, CJA will introduce a long term campaign in which community coalitions use a new type of quality standard to guide reform of local health care systems. Conference workshops will help develop this innovative and collaborative approach. Leaving the conference, communities can continue to work together to accelerate progress under the national reform legislation.
