Senate Bill 862
would empower communities to provide workers with access to health care
services by forging partnerships between employers, employees and
community providers.
State of Oregon Awards Access to Care Grants 01/20/2009
The Oregon
Department of Human Services awarded a $250,000 grant to two Oregon
organizations:
- HealthMatters of Central Oregon, a community
health collaborative serving Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson
counties, and
- United Way of Lane County, which serves uninsured
Lane County residents through its 100% Access Healthcare
Initiative.
The grants will assist these two organizations to develop innovative
ways to improve Oregon families’ access to health care that is
affordable and effective.

Northeast Oregon Network 5/21/2008
The Northeast
Oregon Network (NEON) and the Center for Human Development, Inc. (CHD)
recently received a three-year $500,000 grant from the Federal Office of
Rural Health Policy to assist in meeting the diverse health needs of
rural eastern Oregon.
St. Joseph Health System on Capitol Hill 5/1/2008
On April 29, leadership from St. Joseph Health
System joined more than 60 colleagues from Ascension Health hospitals
around the country on a visit to Capitol Hill to advocate for 100%
access to healthcare and 100% coverage.
Solano County 01/17/2008
After six years of research, the Center for Community Health Studies
at the University of Southern California released the data showing that
Healthy Kids, a locally funded health insurance program for children,
saves California and the federal government up to $7.3 million a year in
health care costs.

Muskegon, Michigan 01/14/2008
Ottawa County is behind the pace of Muskegon County in establishing
an access to health care program to help uninsured and underinsured
citizens gain access to adequate health coverage. More than 1,000
workers in Muskegon County are already in the Access Health program
through their employers.
