COVID-19 and Conference Updates

Communities Joined in Action National Conference Rescheduled to October 12-14, 2020 due to COVID-19 Concerns

Following recent reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Communities Joined in Action (CJA) announced it is necessary to reschedule the 2020 Annual Conference ,originally scheduled for May 6-8 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“We thank and acknowledge our sponsors, presenters, and all those who have made a commitment to attend. Registrations were at an all-time high,” said Quentin Moore, CJA Board Chair. “Due to travel restrictions faced by many of our participants and speakers as a result of COVID-19 response and preparation, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to reschedule the 2020 National CJA conference to October 12-14, 2020.”

This will be the first time the CJA conference has been rescheduled, but it is now clear that this action is unavoidable in order to meet CJA’s mission to connect and equip communities with the tools to improve health equity and well-being.

CJA sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and attendees will be contacted with further information specific to their individual needs.

Our team has worked hard to secure the new 2020 CJA National Conference dates of October 12, 13, and 14, 2020. We will still convene during this time in New Orleans, Louisiana, and will still hold our event at the wonderful Sheraton New Orleans hotel.

In addition to our rescheduled conference date, CJA recognizes our unique role in assisting communities across the United States in building effective, efficient, and sustainable local coalitions and coordinated care systems to improve health and eliminate disparities. Given the unprecedented social, financial, and health implications of COVID-19, we will soon be announcing a webinar that will allow for the sharing of stories and best practices for and between our members and supporters.

In the meantime, further updates regarding the CJA National Conference will be published on www.cjaonline.net. For additional information, please contact: Stephanie Ondrias at sondrias@texashealthinstitute.org
