Communities Joined in Action (CJA) has been conducting a series of key informant interviews with colleagues who are partners in six high performing community collaboratives across the country as part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) initiative – Aligning Systems for Health: Health Care + Public Health + Social Services. The initiative focuses on learning about effective ways to align health care, public health, and social services to better address the goals and needs of people and communities.

As continuation, CJA is conducting two virtual focus group convenings with members and interested colleagues across

the country. In these two sessions, we’ll briefly share structured findings from the report and spend the bulk of the time to solicit input, feedback, and suggestions from participants for integration into a final report to be released later this year. The overall goal of the focus groups is to further explore the degree to which health equity is impacted or results from current models of collaboration incorporating health care, public health, and social services.

The four topic areas will include:

  • Organizational systems change and power dynamics in partnerships
  • Community member engagement and partnership scale
  • Practice and policy: Seeking a balance among “doers” and advocates
  • Evolving roles and contributions: seeking a balance of engagement across sectors
